@Ed, thanks for the tip.
I updated the info to use the last released version of thrift on the thrift webpage.
Anyway, Pharo and Cassandra have released new versions too so this post is getting outdated fast but should work as indicated.

When you retrieve Thrift, using the “good” is always a good idea. To do that, note the thrift jar verion (e.g. apache-cassandra-0.6.5/lib/libthrift-r917130.jar) then retrieve the corresponding thrift version; ex: svn co -r 917130 http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/thrift/trunk thrift
